Karen has spent 12 years in NSW State Government in senior roles in Aboriginal,
public and community housing – leading policy, strategy and reform; community regeneration; strategic partnerships and planning. She was a GM at SGCH for over 6 years leading social and affordable housing strategy and delivery; community regeneration and business growth and innovation. Relevant to the Good Growth conference – this role included leading and partnering on the Bonnyrigg PPP estate renewal; the Washington Park redevelopment; establishing a portfolio strategy; and designing a Youth Foyer model.
Karen holds two Masters Degrees – in Social Policy and an Executive Masters in Public Administration and is as an Associate of the Institute of Public Policy and Governance at UTS. Karen lived on a large public housing estate in Bristol ‘til she was 17 – and has fond memories of the place, the open space, the connections and the community.
