Dr Lucy Burgmann has dedicated two decades to assisting the growth and development of the NSW community housing industry, through her work in the community, public and private sectors. She is passionate about helping organisations to make strategic decisions and demonstrate accountability to their stakeholders.
In her current position as State Manager NSW for Community Housing Limited, Lucy focuses on expanding and diversifying services to tenants and communities through collaboration with other community housing providers, support partners and government agencies. She is co-sponsor of the establishment of Aboriginal Community Housing Limited as an independent national housing provided led by and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. She also leads the development of social impact measurement and contributes to industry-wide projects on regulation and sector development. Previous housing roles include: Housing Practice Lead at Elton Consulting; CEO of the NSW Federation of Housing Associations (now CHIA NSW); and Manager of Government and Community Relations at Affordable Housing Solutions.
Lucy also has extensive corporate governance experience, and a strong track record advising Boards on risk, strategy and positioning. She has held positions including: President, Treasurer and Director of Shelter NSW; Chairperson of the Community Housing Federation of Australia; President and Director of Triathlon NSW. Lucy has a PhD from the University of Sydney and is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
